Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) – Sudan – was established in 2000. It is dedicated to respecting and promoting a culture of human rights within the journalism and media sectors. The organization focuses on defending freedom of the press and expression, as well as the right to information, and is committed to the safety and protection of journalists during both peacetime and conflict. It operates across the fronts of education, training, and advocacy regarding human rights issues; works to equip journalists with a human rights-sensitive approach to their profession; and strives to combat impunity for crimes committed against journalists while pursuing justice, fairness, and accountability.
