Sudan’s Children… Three Years in the Inferno of War

As the war completes its third year, UNICEF reports indicate that more than 160 children were killed and around 85 injured during January and February 2026 alone—an increase of 50% compared to 2025. UNICEF further notes that 78% of child injuries were caused by drone attacks, highlighting the heavy toll borne by the most vulnerable segment of society as the conflict continues. These statistics cover only the Darfur and Kordofan regions.

Over the three years of war, approximately 5 million children have been displaced, while 5,700 children have been subjected to grave violations across Sudan. The report confirms that the war has affected more than 5.1 million children overall, including 4,300 who have been killed or injured.

UNICEF also warns that 4.2 million children are expected to suffer from severe malnutrition in 2026. Additionally, around 8 million children are currently out of school. Watch the Video
