Hala 96 FM was established in March 2014 as a station specializing in variety programming, focusing on youth issues and aspirations, as well as matters concerning society and the family. During the December Revolution, the station aligned itself with the Sudanese street and the revolutionaries’ demands, facing numerous challenges from security agencies—including repeated summons, threats of suspension, and actual shutdowns. Despite this, the station maintained its editorial stance advocating for a democratic, civilian transition. Following the October 25 coup, it was taken off the air for 45 days, yet it persisted in championing the cause of a civilian transition.
